The development of hydrogen technologies and infrastructures is essential for the future development of society's energy and economic system. The UPC has the enormous responsibility to give this impulse and to support the production system and the Catalan society.
In the coming years, it will be necessary to advance in massive deployments of hydrogen-based systems, through pilot experiences and technological innovations, improving knowledge, technologies and infrastructures, will make those deployments viable.
The functions of the hydrogen vector that the UPC considers a priority are:
Currently under construction at the Diagonal Besòs Campus, with a total investment of more than one million euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Collaboration between UPC and Institut Català d'Energia (ICAEN) in the field of the energy transition to encourage joint actions.
Study of the possibility of proposing hydrogen in the call for groups in emerging technologies for the implementation of projects for the valorisation and transfer of research results (RIS3CAT).
Adherence to the metropolitan agreement for the development of renewable hydrogen technologies.
The UPC, with all the critical research mass of the CER-H2, is providing knowledge for a project that aims to transform an internal combustion vehicle into an electrified vehicle with fuel cells and batteries.
